ABOUT US
The Somali Women Empowerment Society (SWES) is a nonprofit organization based in Richmond, British Columbia, dedicated to supporting Somali women and families as they build new lives in Canada.
Our mission is to empower women through education, employment training, and community programs that promote independence, confidence, and cultural connection.
What began as a small grassroots initiative has grown into a trusted community hub—offering English classes, job-readiness workshops, youth mentorship, and a halal food bank serving hundreds of families each year.
At SWES, we believe that when women thrive, families and communities thrive too.
